The human body desperately needs activity and exercise. Aside from the obvious physical benefits, exercise is one of the simplest and most effective means of stress reduction. A regular program of aerobic exercise improves cardiovascular efficiency and relaxes muscles. It also strengthens the heart, makes oxygen use more efficient, lowers the resting pulse, rids the body of stress hormones and decreases the risk of high blood pressure and heart disease. Exercise will fight fatigue, insomnia and digestive problems, as well as release brain chemicals that combat depression (catacholamines) and pain and anxiety (endorphins). And aside from all of the biological benefits, exercise just plain makes you feel better about yourself.
